How Dental Atlas collects data
Every figure comes from a public source, carries a date and links back to where it was found. The rules below apply to every report.
Our data rules
- Public sources only: practices' own websites, the Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce (SHAB), building permit notices, job ads and official statistics.
- Every figure is dated and linked to its source, so you can check it yourself.
- No person is named. Practices appear by company or brand name, or by street and postcode.
- Directories are used only to count practices, never as a source of practice data.
- Job ads are counted and linked. We do not copy their text.
- We report what is published, without labels such as "likely to sell".
What we collect, and how often
Prices, services, equipment
From each practice's own website: tax point value, published prices, opening hours, services, languages, equipment and online booking.
Checked monthly.
Owners and companies
Commercial register notices: new dental companies, owner and management changes, mergers and groups buying practices.
Checked weekly.
New openings
Cantonal and municipal building permit notices for new or converted practices.
Checked weekly.
Hiring and pay
Public job ads: roles, workload, how long ads stay online and stated pay, against the association's salary guidelines.
Checked weekly.
Market and demand
Federal Statistical Office: population, age and growth; practice counts from the business census and directories.
Updated yearly.
Deals and benchmarks

Dental Atlas Price Index
A simple, checkable measure of how dental prices move. First publication once two monthly snapshots exist.
- Basket: practices that published a dentist tax point value in both the base month and the current month, so we compare the same practices.
- Value per practice: the midpoint of its published range.
- Index: median of this month divided by median of the base month, times 100. Base month = 100.
- Published for Switzerland and for each canton with at least 8 practices in the basket; otherwise marked "not enough data".
- Old tariff values from 1994 (such as 3.10 or 4.50) are excluded, because they are not comparable.
